Join Queerly ME in partnership with Katahdin Collaborative, Outdoor Sports Institute, Katahdin Pride, and Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness for a weekend of LGBTQIA+ centered programs including a community meal, our Cultivating Connection training, a Trail Mixer walk, a star gazing and campfire night, and optional camping options. Exact locations will be sent to those who complete registration.
Our weekend kicks off on April 10th with a community meal followed by our Cultivating Connection training. Learn about the decline of community spaces, the public health epidemic of loneliness and isolation, and how we can collectively revitalize opportunities for affirming, inclusive social connection to improve societal well-being. Due to the scope of Queerly ME's work, this training will in part focus on the LGBTQIA+ community and outdoor equity.
The location of our community meal and training is physically ADA compliant. There is an ADA accessible ramp leading to the main entrance with accessibility buttons for opening the door. The entrance to the elevator is 3' wide and the interior of the elevator is approximately 4x6. All restrooms are single use and most are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Masks will be optional and available at the door. Please inform us if you have dietary restrictions or allergies, and we will try our best to accommodate. The community meal and training are all ages welcome.
On April 11th, we will offer a walk from 1pm to 2:15pm utilizing our Trail Mixer model. Trail Mixers are casual, connection centered trail walks, and one of our most popular programs! Periodically during our walk, we will propose conversation prompts to participants and encourage participants to “mix it up” and find a new person to talk to each time a conversation prompt is introduced to encourage new connections. The walk is all ages, although minors must be accompanied by an adult.
The evening of April 11th, we will gather in a separate location for our star gazing and campfire night; this location is physically ADA compliant. Note that the star gazing and campfire night is 21+.
