“Tending to the fire together feels like a reflection of the community itself, nurturing it, fueling it, and, when the time comes, thanking it as we let it rest. Time slows down in those moments. You notice the shifting hues of the embers, the brilliance of the stars overhead, and the quiet sounds of the night. That shared experience, that simple act of being present together, holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I feel most connected to my fellow humans. Queerly allows me to have that space.”

The Ecology School at River Bend Farm is our 2026 Campfire Club Sponsor!

At The Ecology School, we study the relationships that all living organisms have to one another and with our shared environment. We explore the ways that we, as humans, can build communities that sustain the very ecosystems that in turn sustain us. We approach the science of ecology through side-eyed, hands-on exploration of the ecosystems outside our door, making nature's lessons memorable with play, humor, and games, and applicable with real life models for farming and living. We provide programs for schools and youth, overnight summer camps, professional development opportunities for educators, retreats for adults, gathering space for groups of all kinds as well as site rentals.
